TITLE: SERENA

After collaborating on the September Issue of Essence magazine, wherein Serena embraced Láolú s art to tell her story. The crown and heart symbols allude to her greatness on the tennis court and her demonstration of both passion and compassion. Waves on her face figuratively relate to her the Oshun orisha, and also literally represent her power to make waves. Her ripples are felt throughout the culture and the world. The spiral represents perpetuity. “She’s one of the best to ever do it. You can’t ever take that away from her. It inspires a lot of us.”
